El decimoséptimo
Indie Games Festival arranca ya con la publicación del listado de participantes que se han presentado este año a concurso. Entre ellos, varios viejos conocidos nuestros como Among the Sleep, Always Sometimes Monsters, Dead Synchronicity, Door Kickers, Gods Will Be Watching o The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Pero ojo, porque si la lista ha ido creciendo un poquito cada año, esta es la primera vez en sus catorce años de historia en que el número disminuye respecto a la edición anterior en su categoría principal: 639 en este IGF 2015 frente a los 656 del IGF 2014. No sé si esto significa algo, pero es un movimiento interesante en la tendencia. Por cierto, parece que el dramón del año, el GamerGate, ha salpicado también a los IGF. Por lo visto una de sus cientos de jueces, Mattie Brice,
bromeó en Twitter diciendo que iba a votar negativamente a todos los juegos con un protagonista masculino (el
siguiente twit era todavía mejor: «si no hay lesbianas en el juego, está automáticamente descalificado»). Los GamerGaters obviamente se le echaron encima tanto a ella como a la organización del IGF. Hasta aquí, todo muy previsible, pero parece que el community manager del festival no estuvo muy inteligente y decidió condenar el comentario de Brice e indirectamente apoyar a los señores de las antorchas especialistas en acoso en lugar de simplemente ignorar el asunto o defenderla. Ante esta torpe reacción, otro juez, Brendan Keigh,
presentó su dimisión del jurado a menos que IGF se disculpara con Brice y rogaba a otros jueces hacer lo mismo que él. Y así ha sucedido: la organización del IGF
publicó ayer una aclaración y una disculpa pública donde explicaba que, tras investigar el twit, pudieron certificar que en efecto se trataba solo de un chiste y que, de hecho, ni siquiera existe la posibilidad de votar negativamente a un juego: los jueces pueden votar por él o no hacerlo. La intención de IGF, aseguran, no fue silenciar ninguna opinión o criterio, admitieron el error e invitaron a Brice y Keigh a volver a ejercer de jueces. Todo ha quedado en un malentendido, pero no deja de sorprender cómo el twit más obvio y tontorrón puede detonar los ataques contra todo lo que huela a indie. Está el ambiente que da miedo. Sorprende ver como alguien puede tomarse un tweet tan obvio como algo más que una broma… y más viniendo de un juez de un evento que diriges, con lo que ante la duda del malentendido la comunicación se supone que es más que facible (es decir, ¿hoy en día no es algo factible para todos y en todos los sentidos? ¿y mas entre usuarios de tweeter?)
Fuera de la anecdota, se suele decir aquello de no estan todos los que son pero si son todos los que están, así que haremos como otros años ante la imposibilidad de verlos todos y veremos como andan los resultados para encontrar joyas no identificadas aún 🙂

Oh, qué transgresivo y peligroso.
A sabiendas de que me van a hinchar a negativos, he de decir que me alegra ver que gracias a las herramientas modernas de desarrollo cada vez hay mas indies que optan por un por un buen aspecto gráfico (técnicamente hablando) y dejan un poco el pixel art que ya me está empezando a cansar, parece como que «si lo hago pixelado lo peto fijo». Malditos señores con camisas de cuadros y grandes barbas.

Joder, ¿os imaginais que la broma hubiese sido machista y hecha por un tio? Seria gracioso porque por muy obvia que fuera la broma, el que habria tenido que dimitir y pedir perdón habría sido el que hizo la broma, y no al reves.

No son unos ‘malos machos’ simplemente tienen un pésimo sentido del humor, desde mi punto de vista. Y no nos pongamos a imaginar que hubiese pasado si…. afirmaciones machistas las veo y leo a diario mas que feministas ( sin consecuencia alguna) y eso pasa desde hace unos cuantos milenios. Ofenderse por unos pocos decenios de justa reivindicación, para mi, es estar ciego.

Ahora en el mundo de los videojuegos que quedar bien socialmente, y eso incluye defender a las mujeres independientemente de las magufadas que hagan o digan.
Si de verdad piensas que si hubiese sido al reves le hubieran tenido que pedir perdon al que hizo la broma machista… va siendo hora de dejar de mirar a los milenios de historia y fijarse mas en como estan las cosas hoy en dia.

Muchos somos los que nos damos cuenta que esa afirmación era una coña, y buenísima. Si en cualquier caso hubiese pasado lo contrario siempre puede dimitir el afectado (como pasó aquí ) y discutir el suceso.
Las cosas están hoy en dia de esta manera precisamente pq ha habido muchos años de historia a las espaldas. Ignorarlos es hacer ojos ciegos. No es culpa mia, no?

Está claro que las cosas están asi como estan por el pasado, pero defender un desequilibrio actual debido a un problema del pasado me parece igual de erróneo.
Es decir, el machismo debe ser erradicado, la finalidad es una igualdad, pero fomentar o defender beneficios en una de las partes (en este caso, el sexismo, que no el feminismo) no me parece la manera de solucionar el problema.
Respecto al caso gamergate, que unos energúmenos traten de forma dañina a ciertas personas e incluso hagan amenazas de muerte da derecho al resto de la gente a acusar a un colectivo (vease los «gamers» o directamente los hombres) a comportarse de un modo similar? No, porque eso no es justicia, es venganza, y la busqueda por la igualdad se convierte en una lucha de poder que solo puede terminar mas mal que bien.
Ignorar las injusticias del pasado? No. Utilizarlas como excusa para justificar injusticias hoy en dia? Tampoco.

Pues ya me perdonaras pero TODO es fruto de un desequilibrio en el pasado. Entenderlo , respetarlo y aceptarlo es lo mas difícil. No te hablo del gamersgate, te hablo de la historia, pon crimenes de guerra, desigualdades sociales sexuales religiosas políticas económicas, el independentismo catalán… lo que quieras. Tu y todos somos responsables de la historia, de saber entenderla y tomar las posturas adecuadas para encauzarlas para el futuro.
Pero paro, esto se está poniendo demasido serio y no puedo escribir mas con un movil.

Te perdono no haberlo entendido, o perdoname tu por no haberlo dejado claro, pero no he negado el pasado, pero permitir injusticias sociales solo por el hecho de que antes se daban pero en el sentido contrario es absurdo.
La abolición de la esclavitud (aunque siga existiendo hoy en dia en ciertos lugares y formas) no consistió en que los amos se volvieran los esclavos, para que nos entendamos.
